The authorities of Russia and Belarus are discussing joint defense projects. This was announced on January 25 by Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"Russia and Belarus are forced to pay increased attention to issues of joint defense," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, such actions are being taken in connection with external threats to the security of the allies.
