The study showed the desire of Russian students for financial independence
Modern Russian students are increasingly striving for financial independence and no longer consider their parents as their main source of income. This was shown by the Yumopeu study, the results of which were reviewed on January 25. "Газета.Ru ".
"It is significant how young people manage monetary gifts. The survey data suggests that almost 40% of students do not spend the funds they receive on short-term entertainment, but save them for a big dream," said Irina Polyakova, head of Corporate Customer Support at YUMOPEU.
The analysis showed that only 11% of respondents rely on the help of their parents, while 34% have a full-time job, 11% combine their studies with part-time work, and 14% earn money from blogs and creative activities. At the same time, the scholarship remains the main income for only 4% of students, and 16% live at the expense of a partner.
It is noted that the median student budget is 11-15 thousand rubles, while 68% of expenses are spent on food, 45% on rent and housing, and 41% on transportation. Despite the savings, students retain "small joys": 20% spend money on cafes and coffee, 23% on hobbies and clothes, and 34% face unexpected expenses on clothes and shoes.
The publication clarified that the majority of students live with their parents (31%) or have their own home (27%), 21% rent apartments, and only 18% live in dormitories. At the same time, young people are being pragmatic: a quarter of those who are not working yet plan to enter the labor market this year in order to ensure independence and save up for major goals.
Earlier in the day, LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky announced that State Duma deputies had developed an initiative to exempt scholarships from personal income tax (personal income tax), which are paid to students under targeted tuition agreements. The parliamentarian noted that this would immediately increase the actual amount of support, make targeted education more attractive and remove unnecessary financial barriers for young people.
