Early years
Director and TV presenter Alexander Oleynikov was born on October 21, 1965 in Moscow. He studied at school No. 1531 named after S. K. Godovikov, where he studied with film director, screenwriter, producer Mikhail Khleborodov, as well as ex-governor of the Kaliningrad region and entrepreneur Georgy Boos. As a child, the director studied chess and showed interest in history and literature.
From 1983 to 1985, Oleinikov served in the army, in the Special Forces Unit (OSNAZ). He received his education at VGIK and the Moscow State Institute of Culture (MGIK).
Career in television
Oleynikov began working on television in 1985, directing music videos for German singer Dieter Bohlen. In 1992, he was the host of the X program at the VIDA television company. A year later, in 1993, Oleynikov became secretary of the Union of Cinematographers. In the same year, he got a job at the newly formed TV channel TV-6, on which he hosted the TV shows "My Cinema", "My Star" (alternately with TV presenter Viktor Merezhko), "My Story", "Your Music".
From 1995 to 1997, the TV presenter served as general producer of the TV-6 channel, and in 1997 he was appointed First Deputy General Director of the TV-6 Moscow directorate.
From 1997 to 2000, Oleinikova served as Director of Public Relations at the Moscow International Film Festival. In 1999, he became the host of the program "Your Music" on the TV channel "TV-6 Moscow", in 2000 — the author and producer of the program "Oh, these kids" on the same channel. Since 2001, Oleynikov has been a member of the Academy of Russian Television.
Work on NTV and the Rossiya channel
In 2001, the TV presenter left TV-6 and began working for NTV, and his entertainment program "Oh, these kids!" began airing on NTV. In the same year, he became the general producer of the NTV television company, and later, from May 2001 to March 2002, Oleinikov was the program director of the NTV channel.
In 2002, the TV presenter left NTV. His departure from the channel was due to low ratings and numerous on-air failures of the TV shows launched under his leadership.
In the same year, Oleynikov moved to the Rossiya channel, where he took the position of head of several TV projects, in particular, "Good Morning, Russia!", "Vesti +". From March 2006 to November 2012, he was the general producer of the TVC channel.
Personal life
Oleynikov's first wife was Irina Medvedeva, and in 1988 the couple had a son, Maxim. In addition, the TV presenter has an illegitimate daughter Daria. In the period from 1993 to 2010, he was in a civil marriage with actress and TV presenter Daria Drozdovskaya, and in 1993 their son Alexander was born.
The TV presenter died on January 24, 2026 at the age of 60. The cause of death was a ruptured blood clot.
