One of the most common methods of fraudsters to obtain codes from SMS is to allegedly register with a government organization. This was announced on January 23 in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"Fraudsters talk about the "recalculation" of pensions, housing and communal services tariffs, errors in the tax return, and the like, invite them to the institution, and to confirm the entry, they ask them to name the SMS code," the department's Telegram channel says.
