The situation in Greenland was among the topics discussed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff during the meeting in the Kremlin. This was announced on January 23 by the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov, following the meeting.

"At the meeting in the Kremlin, the initiatives of [US President] Donald Trump on the creation of the Peace Council, as well as a number of regional issues and the situation around Greenland were also discussed," he said.
