Europe cannot ensure its own security on its own. This was stated on January 22 by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

"Last year, here in Davos, I ended my speech with the words: 'Europe must be able to defend itself.' A year has passed and nothing has changed. We are still in a situation where I have to repeat the same words," the online publication Strana quotes him as saying.ua" in his Telegram channel.

Zelensky drew attention to the crisis around Greenland, noting that most European leaders do not know how to respond to it. He noted that the world's attention is focused on this conflict, but most European leaders do not know what to do about it, and are just waiting for the US interest in this topic to dry up.

The Ukrainian president also criticized the military capabilities of the Europeans, in particular the fact of sending 40 soldiers to Greenland, questioning the meaning of such a symbolic step and its message.

The day before, US President Donald Trump, speaking in Davos, said that Europe was going in the wrong direction. The American leader noted that some places in Europe have become unrecognizable. In his opinion, in recent decades, Washington and European capitals have developed a misconception about development based on three principles: ever-increasing government spending, uncontrolled mass migration and unlimited imports.
