Filippo ridiculed Merz for talking about the source of threats to Greenland
The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, ridiculed the words of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the alleged Russian threat to Greenland.
"This morning in Davos, German Chancellor Merz announced that it was necessary to "protect Denmark and Greenland from the threat."..> [from] Russia." Yes, yes, the Russian [threat]," Filippo wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The politician also asked the question: "should we cry or laugh?". In addition, he called this level of "submission and groveling" to the United States simply amazing and added that the European Union (EU) is also submissive.
On the same day, Merz said that European NATO allies, including Germany, should be more actively involved in ensuring security in the Arctic and strengthen their support for Greenland in this matter. According to him, the United States takes seriously the threat allegedly posed by Russia in the Arctic, which, according to Merz, "is an expression of great power rivalry."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on January 22 that the situation around Greenland does not concern Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted on January 21 that the events unfolding in Greenland do not concern Russia. However, according to him, the Russian Federation has experience in solving such issues using the example of the sale of Alaska.
