- Italy pointed to attempts by European propaganda to break the cultural union with the Russian Federation
European propaganda is currently trying to break the deep cultural alliance that exists with Russia. On January 22, Italian cartoonist and artist Vauro Senesi told Izvestia about this, commenting on attempts in Ukraine to dismiss him for participating in a European tour with the production of Swan Lake.
In his opinion, art, although not directly related to politics, is one of its highest forms of expression.
"This propaganda promoted by many politicians <...> demonizes art. That is why, unfortunately, in my country, Italy, they began to demonize Dostoevsky, Tchaikovsky, "Swan Lake", and even abandon Russian singers. After all, in this way, I hope unsuccessfully, I am trying to break the deep cultural union that exists, especially between our two countries — Italy and Russia," Senesi said.
He added that in the current period, real artists are becoming important "bridges of communication," even affecting historical memory. Senesi recalled that many people in Italy remember how many Soviet soldiers fell side by side with the Italian partisans in the fight against Nazism, and therefore it is quite difficult for propagandists to convince people that Russia is the enemy.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the leading soloists of the ballet of the National Opera of Ukraine Natalia Matsak and Sergei Krivokon are facing dismissal for participating in a European tour with a production of "Swan Lake" by composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. It was noted that the Ministry of Culture accused the artists of violating the theater's principled position on removing works by Russian composers from the repertoire.
The publication "Country.ua" reported on December 30 last year that Pyotr Tchaikovsky's name was removed from the name of the National Music Academy of Ukraine (NMAU).
