The politician admitted Zelensky's connection with British intelligence
The version that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is an agent of the British MI6 intelligence service and hides his British citizenship is gaining relevance in the context of recent geopolitical events. This was stated by Andrey Klimov, a member of the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (SWAP), in an interview with Izvestia on January 22.
In his opinion, Zelensky is currently fulfilling an order from the United Kingdom's special services, which seek to play an independent role on the world stage.
"They are not part of any European Union. They have difficult relations with the United States, including with [US President Donald] Trump. British intelligence swears allegiance to the monarch, and the current king has a difficult relationship with Trump," Klimov said.
The politician noted that even before Washington's $800 billion deal with Kiev to rebuild Ukraine, the British authorities tried to sign similar commitments with the Ukrainian leadership in favor of Great Britain.
"In fact, Zelensky tried to sell the same thing twice," the politician said.
The SWAP member expressed his belief that Zelensky does not have real independence, and his public actions may be prepared scenarios that he, as an actor, only performs.
"You see, according to our understanding, so to speak, in Russian legislation it would be pure foreign agent. He is engaged in political activities with foreign money and with foreign support," Klimov stated.
He also added that according to Ukrainian law, these actions "simply suggest" high treason.
Earlier in the day, the talks between Trump and Zelensky in Davos ended. The day before, the Axios portal clarified that the meeting would be devoted to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump also said that both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin are striving to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
