Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti agency, said that from January 22, the weather in Moscow will begin to change, severe frosts will come, and on January 25, the coldest day of winter is expected.

In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, January 22, she noted that from Thursday the weather in the region will begin to determine the anticyclone. According to her, light snow is possible in the coming days, but then no precipitation is expected until Sunday. Frosts are forecast to increase from January 22: temperatures will drop to -8...-10 degrees in Moscow, to -13 degrees in the Moscow region, and it will become noticeably colder in the evening.

She specified that on Friday, January 23, the temperature will be about 8 degrees below the climatic norm. The minimum values in the capital will be -15...-17 degrees, in the region — up to -20 degrees, in the afternoon in Moscow -14 ...-16 degrees are expected, in the region -12 ...-17 degrees.

According to the forecaster, the upcoming weekend, January 24 and 25, will be the coldest of the entire winter. Frosts of up to -21...-23 degrees are forecast in Moscow on Saturday, up to -25 degrees in the region, and a peak of cold weather is expected on Sunday: the minimum temperature may reach -23...-28 degrees, in places in the Moscow region — up to -30 degrees. Earlier in the day, the Hydrometeorological Center reported that frosty weather in the Moscow region will continue from the end of the current working week until Monday. 30-degree frosts will arrive in the Moscow region on the night of January 25, RIAMO notes.

Also on January 22, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that on Tuesday the temperature would still be below normal by a couple of degrees, but night temperatures are already expected to be 10-13 degrees, and daytime — –4–8 degrees.

Abnormal frosts are expected in Western Siberia and the central part of the Siberian Federal District.
