- Cases of deterioration of children's health after Nestle mixtures have been reported in the Netherlands
At least four cases of deterioration in infants' health have been recorded in the Netherlands after consuming Nestle baby food. This was reported on January 22 by RTL TV channel.
It is noted that the parents of four children sought medical help complaining of symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea, that occurred in infants after consuming formula milk. It is emphasized that a direct link between the disease and the product has not yet been established.
The consumer organization Foodwatch, in turn, reported dozens of appeals from concerned parents from different European countries. One of the cases concerns a resident of the Netherlands, whose son became ill shortly after switching to Nestle's Little Steps formula. According to the father, the child developed diarrhea, weakness and lost his appetite. Doctors have diagnosed infection with the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which can produce a toxin that causes food poisoning.
The presence of this bacterium in infant formula was the reason for Nestle's large-scale product recall campaign.
On January 6, Rospotrebnadzor introduced a temporary sanitary measure to suspend the import of a number of Nestle baby dry mixes into Russia. It was clarified that the toxin was found in vegetable oils from an external supplier. Its use may cause vomiting or diarrhea.
