The United States does not intend to provide security guarantees to oil companies in Venezuela. This was announced on January 22 by United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.

"We are not going to interfere in ensuring the safety of people in Venezuela," Bloomberg quoted Wright as saying.

The head of the US Department of Energy added that oil and gas companies operate around the world in a wide variety of conditions and "they are well aware of the problems."

According to the newspaper, physical and financial security is among the main concerns of companies that are in no hurry to invest in Venezuela's fuel and energy complex.

The Reuters news agency reported on January 13 that Venezuela began to increase oil production after the United States eased a strict embargo on the supply of raw materials. According to the publication, Venezuelan oil exports, which fell to almost zero in the first weeks after the sanctions were imposed in December, have resumed.

On January 7, the US Department of Energy announced that the United States had begun selling oil from Venezuela on the world market. It was noted that the funds received as a result of the trade will be credited to accounts controlled by the United States "to ensure the legality and integrity of the final distribution of proceeds."
