The inspection of seed potatoes is carried out by farmers from the Moscow region

In the Moscow region, farmers have begun testing seed potatoes for spring sowing in 2026. It is conducted by specialists from the Dmitrovsky district department of the regional branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Rosselkhoznadzor.

The first batches of reproductive seeds were prepared in the potato-growing farm of DGT LLC. Among them are the varieties "Carmen", "Flamingo" and "Prime", writes the online publication "Podmoskovye Segodnya". It was established that the batches comply with the requirements of the GOST standard.

The verification uses advanced digital tools. The experts submitted applications for testing through the federal state information system "Seed Production".

The regional Ministry of Agriculture notes that this procedure is key to ensuring the food security of the region and the development of potato production. Due to careful inspection of the seed material, the high quality of the seed stock is guaranteed and the risks of reduced yields are minimized. In addition, conditions are being created for a stable increase in potato production.

In 2025, almost 376 thousand tons of potatoes were harvested in the Moscow region. This is more than 16 thousand tons higher than in 2024.

In early December, it was reported that more than 350 thousand tons of potatoes and vegetables had been laid for winter storage in the Moscow region. In 2025, the harvest of outdoor vegetables was harvested from an area of 6 thousand hectares. The potato crop was harvested from 12 thousand hectares. 215.5 thousand tons of potatoes and almost 133 thousand tons of vegetables were placed in storage. The total storage capacity of the region is over 724 thousand tons.
