A teenager broke into a school with a knife in Nizhnekamsk and injured a cleaning lady. This was announced by the mayor of Radmir Belyaev in his Telegram channel.

"Dear residents of Nizhnekamsk, please remain calm. All emergency services are located at Lyceum 37. According to preliminary information, a seventh grade student attacked an employee with a knife. Her life is not in danger, all necessary assistance is provided. The attacker has been detained by the forces of the Interior Ministry and the Russian Guard, work is underway with him, and his parents are at school. All students have been evacuated, none of them were injured," the report says.

According to the source of Izvestia, many did not immediately understand what was happening. In a panic, the children ran out of the classrooms and tried to hide. A few minutes later, another sharp sound sounded. The lyceum staff promptly responded to the threat: students and teachers barricaded themselves in the classrooms. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan later reported that after the incident, the students were evacuated, no one was injured.

"On January 22, 2026, in the city of Nizhnekamsk, a 13-year—old teenager had a conflict at school with a technical worker, after which he stabbed her, and fired a shot from an alarm device, as a result he also received bodily injuries," the Investigative Committee reported.

The injured 53-year-old school employee suffered stab wounds to her hands, a source told REN TV. The woman received medical treatment, and the teenager was taken to the hospital.

According to preliminary information, the student detonated three firecrackers, then attacked the woman and hid. The attacker was detained by Rosgvardiya officers. People were taken out of the building, and the area was cordoned off. The boy's parents were called to school.

A criminal case was opened after a teenager attacked a school with a knife.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Attempted murder"), part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence"). A knife, firecrackers and tactical gloves were seized from the teenager. This is reported by Telegram channel 112.

The circumstances and motives of the attacker's actions are being established, the Interior Ministry in the region reported. Photos showing drops of blood in the hallway of the educational institution have been published on social networks.

Later it also became known that the Tatarstan Prosecutor's office had organized an inspection at the Nizhnekamsk Lyceum.

"The Tatarstan Prosecutor's Office has organized an inspection of the institution's compliance with the requirements of the legislation on education. In addition, the supervisory authority will assess the actions of the authorities of the system of prevention of offenses and crimes among minors," the message says.

If there are grounds, the issue of taking prosecutorial response measures will be resolved.

Recent knife attacks

A middle school student attacked people with a knife at a school in the village of Gorki-2, Odintsovo city district, Moscow region, on December 16. Three people were injured in the incident, one of whom died.

In the village of Kyzyl-Mazhylak (Tyva), a 17-year-old boy stabbed a former classmate to death at a New Year's disco. As it became known, the teenager, who had previously left after the 9th grade, quarreled with a high school student and went outside with him, where he stabbed him. The student died on the spot.

The police detained the suspect, the Interior Ministry said. The regional Investigative Committee opened a murder case.
