Nemkin warned about fraudsters' schemes to replenish foreign cards
Fraudsters began using bots in foreign messengers to allegedly exchange currencies and replenish cards of foreign payment systems. This was announced on January 22 by State Duma Deputy Anton Nemkin.
According to him, the attackers create outwardly convincing bots with reviews, user counters and imitation of the support service, counting on the credulity of people preparing for trips abroad.
"The goal is to force the person to transfer additional money, after which the contact is either terminated, or a formal refusal to return follows under the pretext of "technical restrictions," Nemkin explained to TASS.
He added that no legal service requires repeated transfers and always provides transparent refund procedures.
The MP recommended using only proven exchange channels — official banks, licensed exchange offices, or services recommended by major financial platforms.
"Any offers of a "quick deposit" via a messenger bot, especially with a transfer to an individual's card, should be considered as potentially dangerous," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that scammers were also distributing malware to hack banking applications under the guise of popular online games. In Syktyvkar, a woman lost about 30 thousand rubles after installing such a program, and a criminal case was opened.
