Several people, including children, are missing after a landslide on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. This was reported on January 22 by the local news portal Stuff.

"Our teams are on site together with the emergency services, collecting information and providing support. What we know at the moment is that several people are missing," the portal quoted the city council as saying.

According to him, the country's police, together with emergency services, are conducting search operations after a landslide in the Mount Maunganui Recreation Park. Trailers and tents of vacationers, who are currently considered missing, turned out to be in the disaster zone. According to rescuers, there may be children among them. It is noted that police dogs and helicopters are involved in the search operations.
