"Our teams are on site together with the emergency services, collecting information and providing support. What we know at the moment is that several people are missing," the portal quoted the city council as saying.
According to him, the country's police, together with emergency services, are conducting search operations after a landslide in the Mount Maunganui Recreation Park. Trailers and tents of vacationers, who are currently considered missing, turned out to be in the disaster zone. According to rescuers, there may be children among them. It is noted that police dogs and helicopters are involved in the search operations.
Earlier, on January 17, it was reported that five skiers were killed in avalanches in the Salzburg–Eben im Pongau area in western Austria. It is specified that in the area where the bodies were found, people who managed to survive were also identified: two of them were injured, and another remained unharmed.
