- The court confirmed the verdict of the Smorzhevskys-Smirnova for the rehabilitation of Nazism
The First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction has upheld the verdict of Maria Smorzhevskikh-Smirnova, director of the Narva Museum in Estonia, who was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison for rehabilitating Nazism. This became known on January 22.
"The judicial act has been left unchanged. It has entered into force," according to the documents reviewed by TASS.
The court also confirmed the previously imposed restrictions — for five years, Smorzhevsky-Smirnova is prohibited from engaging in activities related to the creation and administration of Internet sites.
Earlier, on September 25, 2025, it was reported that the Moscow City Court found Smorzhevsky-Smirnova guilty of rehabilitating Nazism and publicly spreading deliberately false information about the Russian army. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison in absentia and served in a general regime colony.
