The "Peace Council" created by US President Donald Trump could replace the United Nations in the future. This was announced on January 21 by American Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna.

According to her, the new structure is considered as an alternative to the existing international institutions.

"It (the Peace Council) will potentially replace the United Nations," Luna said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The congresswoman also stressed that she supports the initiative of Donald Trump, noting Washington's dissatisfaction with the current activities of the United Nations. According to her, the United States considers the existing mechanisms of the organization to be insufficiently effective.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the leaders of a number of Western countries refused to participate in the "Peace Council", not wanting to legally consolidate the dominance of the United States. Political scientist Vladimir Olenchenko noted that Donald Trump's alleged presidency of the Council means the formalization of Washington's leadership. In his opinion, in such conditions, European countries are losing their former political weight, which causes them discontent and fears for their own status in the international arena.
