In Ufa, FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack in the police department, which was planned by two citizens of Central Asian countries. This was announced on January 21 by the FSB's Public Relations center.

"By the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in <... Moscow and the Republic of Bashkortostan have suppressed the illegal activities of two citizens of one of the Central Asian countries who were members of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia," the report says.

The intruders were discovered when they began collecting information about the Ufa police department. During the reconnaissance, they purchased automatic firearms, purchased components for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device (IED), and also began assembling it, the department said.

During the arrest, one of the attackers offered armed resistance, which was why he was neutralized by return fire. The second attacker was also detained, and investigative actions are being carried out against him.

During searches at the place of residence of the detainees, IED components and symbols of the terrorist organization were found.

A criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 ("Attempted commission of a terrorist act") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on January 20, the FSB Central Control Center of Russia reported that the agency's employees had eliminated a man involved in the attempted terrorist attack in Stavropol. It was noted that there were no casualties among law enforcement officers and civilians.
