The former vice-Miss World was sentenced to three years in a penal colony for fraud

Presnensky District Court of Moscow sentenced Elena Sheripova, a former Miss World vice-president and entrepreneur, to three years in a penal colony for fraud with modeling courses. This was reported to Izvestia in court on January 21.

The woman was found guilty of committing 155 episodes of fraud on a particularly large scale, and civil lawsuits were also levied against her in favor of the victims.

In 2015, Sheripova opened the modeling agency Queen Models and the school of noble maidens. The expensive training process involved preparing for the big catwalk: potential clients were promised courses in fashion shows, choreography, acting, posing, fashion history, and other classes. At the same time, in reality, there was no real training, and the auditions offered to the students were fictitious. In case of insolvency, candidates were offered to apply for a loan.

According to investigators, Sheripova and her accomplices contacted those who were looking for work in the media business on thematic portals, and then offered them their services. The entrepreneur was also active on social media.

Earlier, on October 23, the Savelovsky Court of Moscow sentenced blogger Andrei Sidoropulo to six years in a penal colony and a fine for fraud. The court found that he, as part of a group, sold a false traffic arbitration course on the Internet, deceiving 40 people for over 8.3 million rubles. To legalize funds, the criminal purchased a Lamborghini for 22 million rubles and registered it to his grandmother.

In January 2023, Sidoropulo was put on the wanted list. In August 2024, law enforcement agencies detained a blogger in the capital. According to the investigation, the blogger and his accomplices from an organized criminal group (OCG) posted paid courses on "traffic arbitration" on the Internet. The trained clients were guaranteed easy and fast earnings.
