US President Donald Trump has threatened to respond with "armageddon" and stop aid to Ukraine in response to the "trade bazooka" of the European Union (EU). The New York Times (NYT) wrote about this on January 21.

"The risk of using this tool ("trading bazooka". — Ed.) is that Trump will rush to arrange armageddon, immediately canceling all aid to Ukraine. This will be a disaster for Europe," Henry Farrell, an American professor at Johns Hopkins University, wrote in the newspaper.

He also noted that the decision to stop aid to Kiev would have a bad effect on the United States. According to the author of the article, in this case, transatlantic relations will fall apart, while trade markets may also collapse.

Earlier in the day, Trump said that the use of "trade bazookas" by EU countries against the United States would bounce back. At the same time, according to Trump, he can reach an agreement with the EU during his stay in Davos.

The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced on January 20 that the EU does not seek conflict with the United States, but at the same time intends to adhere to its position on Greenland, having the necessary levers of pressure in its arsenal. She also noted that the EU found itself in a crisis situation on the issue of Greenland, "which it had never faced before," and added that NATO was "quite suitable" to address the issue of Greenland's security.
