- Scientists have predicted the Aurora borealis over the European part of the Russian Federation in the coming hours
The Aurora Borealis may appear over the European part of Russia in the next two to three hours. This was announced on January 20 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The second magical night of strong auroras is coming. In the next two to three hours, a rapid increase in luminescence is expected in the European part of the country," the laboratory wrote on its Telegram channel.
Experts noted that the conditions for observing the atmospheric glow will be comparable to those recorded last night. In addition, scientists have pointed to a decline in solar activity.
On the same day, Izvestia published footage of auroras appearing over the regions of Russia against the background of the strongest magnetic storm of the G4.7 class. The video shows auroras seen in Kaliningrad, Crimea, Novy Urengoy, Pskov, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Chita and other Russian cities. These phenomena have also reached Belarus and Europe, in particular Berlin and Amsterdam.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
