The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has changed its decision on the admission of the Russian national team to the Paralympics, skiers, snowboarders and downhill skiers can apply for invitations. This was announced on January 20 by the president of the Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov.

"The IPC has changed its decision and informed the RPC and all its member organizations that in cross—country skiing, alpine skiing and snowboarding, the RPC can apply for bilateral invitations on general terms," he said in an interview with TASS.

He noted that back on October 23, 2025, due to the position of the international federations, Russians did not have the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 Winter Paralympics, but today the situation has changed.

On October 23, the IPC press service announced that Russian athletes would not participate in the 2026 Paralympic Games. It is noted that the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation is impossible due to the lack of opportunity to qualify for the competition.

Rozhkov said on the same day that the RPC would fight for the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the 2026 Paralympics, despite the lack of opportunities for athletes to qualify for the competition. He stressed that the hope for the participation of Russians in the Games, "although minimal, still remains."
