Trump has expressed his disinterest in the Nobel Peace Prize
On January 20, US President Donald Trump said that the Nobel Peace Prize was not important to him, despite the fact that he was offered the award, he was concerned about saving lives.
"I don't care about the Nobel Prize. <...> A very nice woman thought I deserved her, and she really wanted me to have the Nobel Prize. And I appreciate that," Trump said, as his speech was broadcast by Fox News.
At the same time, he once again stated that Norway controls the process of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize. However, as Trump added, he is much more concerned about saving lives than receiving rewards.
On January 19, Trump declared that he no longer feels obliged to think exclusively about the world, since he was not awarded the Nobel Prize.
At the same time, the head of the Venezuelan opposition, Maria Corina Machado, announced on January 15 that she had awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the US leader. In addition, on the official website of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, after Machado's public statement, they said that the prize already awarded could not be transferred to Trump due to the committee's rules.
