Magnetic storm caused aurora borealis across Russia

Residents of Russia observed the Aurora borealis, which appeared even in the Crimea. This became known on January 20.

"The magnetic storm has intensified to G4.7. If the characteristics of the solar wind do not change, then reaching the highest level of G5 will occur within 1-2 hours," the Telegram channel of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS says.

Flashes of light were recorded not only in the northern regions of the country, but also in the southern regions — the Volgograd and Rostov regions, the Krasnodar Territory and the Crimea.
