- An American who sailed on a yacht to Sochi was sentenced to five years for transporting weapons
A US citizen who sailed to his beloved on a yacht in Kazan was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for illegally transporting weapons and ammunition across the state border. This was reported on January 19 in the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory.
"An American moored a yacht in the seaport of Sochi, hiding the presence of weapons on board from border control. After passing through the customs border, during the inspection of the yacht, firearms and ammunition were found and seized," the press service wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is clarified that the man fully admitted his guilt and added that he had not familiarized himself with the laws of Russia when he decided to make a trip to his girlfriend in Kazan and assumed that the weapon could simply be on board the yacht. The court sentenced him to five years in a penal colony, and the sentence entered into force.
In November last year, the Sinarsky district court of Kamensk-Uralsky arrested a truck driver who was trying to drive a gun into the territory of a penal colony in IK-47. During the investigation, a Kalashnikov assault rifle with cartridges, a hand grenade, a pistol (stripped) with two magazines, a tactical helmet, a tactical backpack, a pouch with medicines, radio stations with batteries, cell phones and accessories to them were seized.
