The Earth's magnetosphere has come to a calm state before the expected powerful magnetic storm. This was announced on January 19 by specialists of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS.

"Everything calms down before the storm. Everything is now just waiting," they wrote in the Telegram channel of the laboratory.

Forecasts indicate that the storm may reach a very strong level (G4) by noon on Tuesday, January 20. However, scientists noted that it is difficult to predict such a storm with high accuracy, and, therefore, the forecast may not come true completely.

On the same day, the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG) reported that a strong M1.1 level flare occurred on the Sun. In addition, the institute noted that proton fluxes into near-Earth space were detected from the Class X flare that occurred the day before.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
