A strong flare of M1.1 level occurred on the Sun. The relevant information was published on January 19 on the official website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG).

"On January 19, at 14:19 Moscow time, an M1.1 flash was registered in the X—ray range," the publication says.

In addition, the institute noted that proton fluxes were detected in near-Earth space from the Class X flare that occurred the day before.

Earlier, on January 18, at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy (XRAS) of the Space Research Institute (IKI) The Russian Academy of Sciences reported that a solar flare of class X, the maximum intensity level, was recorded on the Sun. It was clarified that the last comparable solar event occurred on November 14, 2025, that is, two months ago.
