Valiyeva will perform at the Russian Jumping Championship and the Channel One Cup.
Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva announced on January 18 that she will compete at the Russian Jumping Championships and the Channel One Cup.
"Of course, I'm very worried, but I'm much more looking forward to the moment when I feel the competitive excitement of the Russian Jumping Championships again," she wrote on her Telegram channel.
Valieva also said that she will show one of her new programs on the Channel One Cup.
In October last year, it became known that Valieva, who was suspended from competitions for four years due to the doping scandal, would return to big-time sports after December 25.
At the end of January 2024, the CAS found Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules. The skater was disqualified for four years for using trimetazidine. Valiyeva's defense was based on the fact that the banned drug could enter her body with the dessert that her grandfather had prepared. The CAS found the version untenable.
The period of ineligibility of the Russian athlete begins on December 25, 2021. All results of the athlete from this date are annulled. In March 2024, she was excluded from the Russian figure skating team.
In July of the same year, the CAS rejected an appeal by the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Figure Skating Federation to deprive the figure skaters, including Valieva, of gold at the 2022 Olympics.
