Four people were killed in a collision between a passenger car and a freight train at a railway crossing in the Pskov region. This was announced on January 18 by a source of Izvestia.

According to his information, the Renault Logan was driving through the crossing when it collided with the Pskov — Velikiye Luki freight train. All four people in the car died on the spot, their identities are being established. The train suffered minor damage, and three freight trains may be delayed.

The press service of the Oktyabrskaya Railway clarified that the incident occurred today at about 10:05 Moscow time on the Samolukovo — Nasva junction stage.

"Ignoring the forbidding indications of a properly functioning alarm system, the driver of the car drove to the railway crossing in front of the approaching freight train No. 9401. The driver applied emergency braking, but a collision could not be avoided," the Telegram channel said.
