In Australia, a 12-year-old boy suffered serious leg injuries after being attacked by a shark in Sydney Harbour. This was reported on January 18 by The Guardian.

"In the eastern part of Sydney, a boy was attacked by a shark, and he is in critical condition after suffering serious injuries to both legs," the material says.

According to the newspaper, a 12-year-old boy was pulled out of the water at Shark Beach in Nielsen Park. The victim received first aid at the scene by applying tourniquets. He was later taken to the hospital.

At the time of the attack, the boy was swimming outside the mesh fence, the article clarifies.

On January 9, USNews reported that an American tourist was the victim of a shark attack off the coast of the beach on the island of St. Croix, part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The victim was 56-year-old Arlene Lillis from Minnesota. The incident occurred on the west coast of the island near the coast. The woman was urgently taken to a local hospital, but doctors were unable to save her life.
