The Interior Ministry told about the search for victims by scammers in tourist communities

The scammers began searching for potential victims in the comments and discussions of travel communities on the Internet, offering them supposedly profitable trips at low prices. This was confirmed on January 18 by the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to the agency, which was reviewed by RIA Novosti, the attackers monitor user activity in thematic groups and chat rooms, after which they get in touch, posing as employees of travel agencies. To gain trust, they first ask questions about their planned vacation, and then offer to purchase tickets or tours at a "very favorable" price.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation appealed to Russians to book trips only through trusted resources, if possible, pay for services directly at the tour operator's office, as well as carefully check information and study reviews before transferring money.

They are increasingly "hijacking" user accounts in order to "breed" victims on their behalf.

Representatives of the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise reported a day earlier that cybercriminals had come up with another scheme of deception on social networks and messengers using accounts of inactive users. Taking over the pages that are no longer in use, they add a new post on the wall about the alleged death of the owner, and then begin collecting for funerals and helping relatives.
