Skier Terentyev spoke about his worries about missing the 2026 Olympics
Russian skier Alexander Terentyev admitted on January 17 that he was worried about missing the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, but is not thinking about it now.
"I was honestly worried, I was thinking about it (skipping the Olympics. — Ed.). I don't even want to remember now. I don't know what will happen tomorrow," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Terentyev also stated that he was not going to apply for neutral status in order to participate in the Olympics. The athlete is sure that it will be rejected.
"No, I did not apply [for neutral status]. And I don't plan to. Because I know what the answer will be for me. And why do I need it?" he concluded.
The 2026 Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Most Russian athletes will not be able to participate due to restrictions imposed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
On January 7, the IOC decided to ban the use of Russian symbols in the stands during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. It was noted that this decision applies to all countries, athletes from which can participate in the Games only in a neutral status.
