A court in Syktyvkar has placed a teacher at the vocational training center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Komi Republic, accused of negligence after an explosion at an educational institution, under house arrest. This was reported on January 17 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.

"The investigators requested detention, and the court chose house arrest," the RIA Novosti press service said.

A fire broke out at the Interior Ministry's training center in Syktyvkar on January 15. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Komi Republic reported on January 16 that, according to preliminary data, the cause of the fire in the center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Komi was the unprofessional actions of one of the teachers during the lesson. Currently, 19 victims remain in hospitals in the Komi Republic. The head of the center has been suspended from service.
