American businessman Elon Musk is demanding damages from OpenAI and Microsoft in the amount of $79 to $134 billion for the alleged fraud. This was reported on January 17 by Bloomberg with reference to court documents.

"Just as an early investor in a startup can make a profit many orders of magnitude greater than their initial investments, the illegal profits that OpenAI and Microsoft received and which Mr. Musk now has the right to withdraw much more than his initial contribution," the agency quoted Stephen Molo, Musk's lawyer, as saying.

According to the newspaper, the lawsuit is based on the claim that OpenAI deceived Musk by abandoning the non-profit model and entering into a partnership with Microsoft. Lawyers estimated that because of this, Musk lost his share in the company's current valuation of $500 billion after he donated $38 million to found it in 2015.

It is reported that in a statement, OpenAI called the lawsuit unfounded and part of a campaign of harassment. Musk left the OpenAI board of directors in 2018 and filed a lawsuit in 2024.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned on January 12 that the country would establish control over the Grok chatbot integrated into the X social network if the American company did not take measures to regulate it. In response to the claims from Musk, he accused the country's government of wanting to find any excuse for Internet censorship.

Two days later, Starmer announced that the social network X was working with the Grok chatbot to ensure its compliance with British law. He also stressed that the UK government will continue to take the necessary measures, strengthen existing laws and prepare for the adoption of new ones.
