Tennis player Kasatkina officially received Australian citizenship
Tennis player Daria Kasatkina, who previously played for Russia, announced on January 17 that she had received a certificate of Australian citizenship.
So, a 28-year-old athlete from Tolyatti, currently the 48th racket of the world, posted on her Instagram page (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) a picture with the relevant document.
"Officially an Australian. Happy," she captioned the photo.
Kasatkina announced in March 2025 that she would represent Australia at the competition. In recent tournaments, the tennis player has already played under the flag of another country.
In December 2025, the Association of Professional Tennis Players (APR) announced that Russian tennis player Daniil Sargsyan had changed his sports citizenship, and now the 19-year-old athlete will compete under the Armenian flag. Sarksyan holds two doubles titles at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments.
At the same time, Russian tennis player Polina Kudermetova changed her citizenship. The 22-year-old tennis player will now represent Uzbekistan.
