Exports of medicines from Russia to the European Union exceeded €30 million
Exports of Russian pharmaceuticals to the European Union (EU) countries exceeded €30 million in the first 11 months of 2025, setting a new record for this period starting in 2020. This is evidenced by the data published on January 16 on the Eurostat website.
The largest volumes of purchases were made in Slovenia and Hungary, which became the main importers of Russian medicines. Slovenia doubled its purchases to €20.04 million, Hungary also doubled its imports to €8.6 million.
At the same time, Sweden became the absolute leader in terms of growth rates, increasing imports fourfold to €403.7 thousand.
In November last year, it was reported that the EU significantly increased purchases of medicines from Russia in September 2025, increasing the volume of supplies by more than seven times compared to August, reaching the highest level since December 2020. In the three quarters of 2025, the total import of medicines from Russia amounted to €26.9 million, which is twice as much as in the same period last year.
