Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) The United States has warned of the risks of flights over the maritime areas of Panama, Mexico, Colombia and parts of the Pacific Ocean due to military activity. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on January 16.
"The US Federal Aviation Administration on Friday said it was issuing a number of warnings for airlines to exercise caution when flying over Central America and parts of South America, citing the risks of potential military activity and interference with the GPS signal," the publication says.
It is clarified that the warnings come amid rising tensions after the administration of US President Donald Trump organized a military buildup in the southern Caribbean region.
The Times newspaper reported on January 7 that the United States had deployed 14 C-17 Globemaster transporters and two heavily armed AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft to air bases in the UK. According to the newspaper, at least five MH-60M Black Hawk multipurpose helicopters and one MH-47G Chinook heavy military transport helicopter, which are actively used by American special forces, could be on board the C-17 transporters.
