- The All-Russian competition for the search for the "Great Russian style" in architecture has started
On January 16, a press conference dedicated to the launch of the all-Russian review competition "Big Russian Style" was held in Moscow. The organizer was the Russian Dream movement. The project is being implemented with the support of the Union of Architects of Russia and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
Russian Russian Lighthouses project author and co-chairman of the jury of the review competition Alexey Komov noted that the task of the participants is to understand the great Russian tradition, and today he named the artist-warrior as the main person.
"Tradition is not something dusty. She is the most vanguard weapon that leads us into battle for the future. It is architects who need to get their voice out today," Komov said.
It is specified that the symbols of the contest were rebirth and restoration. According to Komov, they give an impetus to the development of a great style.
"Today, the restoration of Russia is not only a spiritual restoration, but also a physical one. We need to restore our destroyed borders not only in Donbas, but also in the southern regions and in the border area," the co—chairman of the jury emphasized.
The aim of the competition is to embody the idea of the "Russian Dream" in architecture. Participants can present their projects and options for their implementation in 2020-2025. The works are divided into six categories: "Public Building", "Religious building", "Residential building", "Industrial Building", "Urban Planning" and "Monumental Art".
Russian Russian Dream Movement Secretary Andrey Kovalenko added: "Our entire project, all our efforts today are focused on showing that there is a great Russian style, that there is great architecture, and we are ready to present it to the state."
It is noted that registration of participants will last until February 15. Acceptance of works is from February 8 to March 15. The results of the competition will be announced by the end of March 2026. The exhibition of 100 finalist works will be held in April-May 2026 at the Central House of Architects.
Earlier, on October 25, 2025, the award ceremony for the winners of the SHUM Youth Media and Journalism Award was held at the Rossiya National Center in Moscow. The prize is awarded to young authors and teams of creators of significant content about Russia. In 2025, participants competed in 12 nominations, presenting projects about their native land, family values and a vision for the future.
