British Deputy Prime Minister Lammy arrives in Ukraine
British Deputy Prime Minister Keir Starmer David Lammy has arrived in Ukraine on a visit. This was announced on January 16 by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, Valery Zaluzhny.
"I am pleased to welcome British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy to Ukraine," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the ambassador, the Centennial Partnership Forum will be held on January 16, during which the parties will be able to discuss further cooperation between Kiev and London in various fields, ranging from economics to education.
It is noted that Lammy will also take part in it. In addition, Zaluzhny thanked the United Kingdom "for its help and active position in upholding the interests of the country."
On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Britain was taking a destructive position on Ukraine. According to him, London adheres to a radical position and does not contribute to the establishment of peace and stability on the European continent.
Before that, on January 15, Politico newspaper reported that European efforts to restore direct contacts with Russia had encountered resistance from the UK, reflecting a diplomatic split among Western countries. According to the newspaper, London continues to insist that it is Kiev and the European states that must determine the conditions for ending the conflict.
