The next target of the American leader Donald Trump after Greenland may be Canada. This was announced on January 16 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

"Canada announces a strategic partnership with China. Will the 52nd State be able to do this? (Greenland may become the 51st. — Ed.)," Dmitriev ironically noted on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Thus, he commented on the information about the first visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to China in eight years. Following the meeting, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang announced Beijing's readiness to cooperate with Ottawa.

The Bild newspaper, citing reporters on the spot, reported on January 15 that the first military personnel from European countries arrived in Greenland amid statements by US President Donald Trump about the need for the island to join the United States.

On the same day, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the state would take part in joint exercises with Denmark in Greenland. At the same time, it was reported that Denmark began transferring military equipment and advanced units to the territory of its autonomous unit, whose residents want to remain with the kingdom.
