The head of the White House, Donald Trump, was warned that a large-scale strike on Iran was unlikely to lead to the fall of the government and could escalate the conflict. This was reported on January 15 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing officials from the United States and the Middle East.

"Trump has received information that a large—scale strike on Iran is unlikely to lead to the fall of the government and could provoke a broader conflict," the article says.

It clarifies that in order to conduct a large-scale military operation in the Middle East, as well as to ensure the security of American forces and regional allies such as Israel, in the event of Iran's retaliatory actions, a significant increase in military presence will be required.

Officials say that the President of the United States, having not yet made a final decision on further steps, has requested the preparation of the necessary military resources in case he orders a large-scale attack.

On the same day, The New York Times reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Trump during a telephone conversation on January 14 to postpone the attack on Iran.

NBC reported on January 15 that the head of the White House is considering the possibility of launching a short-term and decisive military strike against Iran without escalating the conflict into a protracted one.

White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said on January 15 that Trump and his team are closely monitoring the situation in Iran. All possible options remain under consideration. In addition, the White House did not disclose whether Netanyahu really asked to postpone the attack on Iran, but confirmed the fact of their conversation with the American leader.

Russia's representative to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia said on January 15 that the United States continues to escalate tension and foment hysteria around Iran. According to him, today's meeting, convened at the initiative of the United States, is another attempt to justify interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.

Fox News reported on January 15 that the United States was deploying forces to the Middle East amid Trump's consideration of the possibility of a strike on Iran. Later, the TV channel, citing the military, added that at least one American aircraft carrier was heading to the Middle East. It clarifies that these measures are aimed at providing the US president with operational military capabilities in the event of an appropriate decision.
