The biologist told about dangerous snacks for alcohol
The most dangerous snack for alcohol is pickled food: pickles, tomatoes and mushrooms. The acting dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the State University of Education, biologist Irina Lyalina, told about this on Thursday, January 15.
The expert explained that salty food causes dehydration, which worsens the condition of the body during alcohol intoxication, provoking an increase in blood pressure and strain on the heart. She added that pickled vegetables contain acetic acid, which irritates the gastric mucosa and enhances the negative effects of ethanol.
"Alcohol itself is heavily processed by the liver, and salt additionally loads this organ. Fresh tomatoes behave the same way. Organic tomato acids irritate the gastric mucosa, which can cause bloating and indigestion when drinking strong drink, but processed tomatoes (tomato juice) are not so dangerous," she said in a conversation with Lenta.ru .
The biologist added that fatty and fried foods, such as lard, smoked meats, and shish kebabs, slow down digestion and increase the load on the liver, and in combination with alcohol creates a toxic load on the body twice as much.
"The combination of alcohol and chocolate, sweets is very dangerous for the human body. Chocolate in the form of a snack with alcohol causes a severe blow to the pancreas. Alcohol itself causes cramps, and chocolate (even bitter) additionally blocks some bile ducts, disrupting digestion," the expert warned.
It is also dangerous to combine alcohol with canned food and sausages. Spicy food is also not recommended to be combined with alcohol — first of all, the walls of the gastric mucosa and esophagus may burn, and blood flow to the intestines may increase, forming irritation, Lyalina concluded.
On January 14, psychiatrist-narcologist Alexander Kovtun noted in an interview with NSN that the main symptom of alcohol dependence is a pathological attraction to alcohol. A person begins to plan his consumption in advance, which distracts him from work and other duties, and the desire to drink becomes so strong that nothing can distract him, reports 360.ru .
On December 26, DDX Fitness personal trainer and nutritionist Alyona Averyanova said that restoring nutrition after the New Year holidays requires not a strict diet, but a systematic approach and a refusal to drastically reduce the caloric intake. Averyanova recommended returning to the usual diet gradually, maintaining regular meals and paying attention to sufficient protein intake. In addition, she urged to consume food consciously.
