Almost 5,000 pieces of equipment are involved in removing snow from city streets. This was announced on Thursday, January 15, by the Moscow Department of Housing and Communal Services.

The ministry explained that work has been organized throughout the city to remove snow banks formed during the aftermath of heavy snowfall. The main task during heavy rainfall is to ensure the safety of traffic and pedestrians, so the roadway and sidewalks are cleared as soon as possible. The collected snow is temporarily formed into shafts along the roadsides, and after the snowfall ends, it is removed from the street and road network, the Moscow City News agency reports.

It is also noted that during the intense snowfalls that took place from January 8-10, 2026, temporary snow storage sites were created to speed up work, Moscow 24 notes. This makes it possible to reduce the number of loading equipment on the roads and reduce inconveniences for motorists. Snow is then sent from temporary sites to snow-melting points, IA Regnum clarifies.

The department added that currently, in particular, snow removal continues from Miusskaya Square, where loading equipment is operating, and urged drivers to be careful and follow the rules of the road, the website writes. kp.ru .
