The Moscow Regional Court, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, seized in favor of the state the plots of two defendants in the elite village of Mayendorf Gardens in the Moscow suburb of Barvikha. Ekaterina Romantsova, the owner of one of their plots, informed Izvestia about this on January 15.

In particular, one of the plots was seized from the ex-wife of the ex-Minister of Trade of the Moscow region, the founder of the Kolchuga arms stores and the owner of commercial real estate in the center of Moscow, Mikhail Khubutia Ekaterina Dzhanashia. The defenders plan to appeal the court's decision.

Odintsovo City Court of the Moscow region refused to seize the land in December 2024. This decision was later confirmed by the Moscow Regional Court. The Prosecutor General's Office filed a claim for the seizure of 13 plots, covering a total of about 100 hectares of land.

At the same time, elite land plots with an area of 2.5 thousand to 21 thousand square meters in the Moscow suburb of Barvikha worth several billion rubles were acquired "through tenth hands" by bona fide buyers. Thus, entrepreneur Hubutia stated that, despite the loan being paid, for a long time he could not get permission from the authorities to build the building.

At the end of October 2025, the First Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction overturned the decision to refuse to seize land in the Mayendorf Gardens settlement in favor of the state. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the lands previously owned by the government sanatorium "Barvikha" were alienated from federal ownership through a chain of transactions. Prosecutors consider this process to be illegal and extremely unprofitable for the state.
