A unique aviary complex will be built for panda Katyusha at the Moscow Zoo
A unique enclosure complex for panda Katyusha will be built in the Moscow Zoo. This was announced on Thursday, January 15, on the website of the Moscow City Hall.
All the big pandas are in the Moscow Zoo as part of international cooperation with China, and a modern aviary is being created for Katyusha, which will provide her with her own space and improve conditions for visitors.
Katyusha Villas will be located on the Old territory in the area of the so-called "Skating Circle", the website clarifies. kp.ru .
The new complex will be a two-level building with an area of more than 2 thousand square meters and will be designed for the first panda cub born in Russia, writes RT. On the first level, spacious indoor and outdoor enclosures will be placed, designed to resemble the natural habitat of pandas — the forests of Sichuan province. There will be structures for climbing, artificial reservoirs, as well as temperature and humidity control systems. In addition to the exhibition areas, separate enclosures are provided for recreation, training and breeding, Moscow 24 notes.
It is noted that the complex will comply with international standards for keeping pandas. It will be equipped with a feed kitchen, cold storage rooms for bamboo, climate control and water treatment systems, video surveillance, as well as a workshop where keepers will make toys to enrich the animal's habitat, the Moscow City News agency reports. The project also provides office facilities for staff.
