In the Pskov region, it was forbidden to go on ice in 15 districts
In the Pskov region, access to ice was banned in 15 municipalities, including Pskov and Velikiye Luki. This was stated by the head of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Lavrukhin on the air of PLN FM radio.
Now going on the ice is fraught with failures and an administrative fine, the Pskov News feed writes. The cover on rivers and lakes is not yet strong enough to support a person's weight.
Only the Ministry of Emergency Situations can talk about the safety of ice for walking, Lavrukhin stressed. Ice with a thickness of at least 10 cm is considered safe for one person, and at least 15 centimeters for a group of people.
According to a guest of the studio, the ice thickness reaches 20-25 cm near the mouth of the Velikaya River, and 10-12 cm at the exit to Lake Pskov. The ice is up to 19 cm thick on the main rivers of the region, and from 19 to 27 cm thick in closed reservoirs.
In general, as the expert noted, the ice has already formed, but cracks and gullies are still found. He also added that the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted a survey of the ice cover during the delivery to the Talab Islands.
During the New Year holidays, employees of the State Inspection Center for Small Vessels actively reminded residents of Pskov that it was strictly forbidden to go out on the ice. During the actions, they handed over information memos with safety rules on ice.
