Ukraine will introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector. This was announced on January 14 by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

"In general, a state of emergency will be introduced in the energy sector of Ukraine," Zelensky wrote on the Telegram channel.

He also noted that "Denis Shmygal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, will become the head of work to support people and communities in such conditions, as well as to address practical issues."

"The Cabinet of Ministers will ensure maximum deregulation of all processes for connecting backup power equipment to the grid during such a situation. We are also working to significantly increase the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine," the Ukrainian leader said.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced on January 11 that residents of more than 1,000 houses in Kiev remain without heat supply, despite repairs. He called the energy supply situation in the city difficult.

Klitschko said on January 9 that Kiev residents who have the opportunity to leave their apartments should do so due to the lack of heat and water in their homes.

At the same time, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky criticized the Kiev city authorities for poor preparation for power outages in the city, urging them not to run away from problems. He added that repair crews are working to restore power supply networks in many cities of Ukraine.
