A resident of Severomorsk is awaiting trial for the death of a man in a drunken accident

In the Murmansk region, the investigation of a criminal case against a motorist from the city of Severomorsk, who got behind the wheel under the influence of drugs and caused a fatal accident, has been completed. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred on the night of September 6, 2025 at the 31st km of the highway to Severomorsk. According to the Bi-port news agency, the 42-year-old driver of the Lexus RX350 seriously exceeded the speed limit, the car flew into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Renault Duster driven by a 65-year-old man.

The Renault driver died on the spot from his injuries. As it turned out, the woman driving the Lexus was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.

The investigation of the criminal case under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person completely intoxicated" has been completed. The case materials have been submitted to the court for consideration.

The prosecutor's office notes that the maximum sanction of this article provides for up to 12 years in prison.

In December, a court in the Chelyabinsk region sentenced a motorist from the city of Asha, who knocked down a 24-year-old girl with her four-year-old son at a crossing, after which he disappeared. The child died as a result of a hit-and-run, and his mother was seriously injured.
