The cost of living in Russia for 2026 for pensioners will be 16,288 rubles. This was announced on January 14 by Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of Russia.

At the same time, a significant regional spread remains: from 13,518 rubles in the Lipetsk and Tambov regions to a record 42,511 rubles in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. The indicators for other demographic groups are also determined: on average, 18,939 rubles per capita, 20,644 rubles for able—bodied citizens, and 18,371 rubles for children.

"The amount of the pensioner's subsistence level is used when assigning social supplements to pensions," Balynin said in an interview "Газете.Ru ".

The expert noted that non-working pensioners, whose total financial security is below the minimum level established in their region, will receive a social supplement up to this level. It is important that in-kind support measures are not included in the calculation when assessing need.

On January 12, Natalia Melnikova, a senator and former head of the Social Fund's Pskov Region office, told how to get maximum pension points with a salary of 248 thousand rubles. It was specified that a Russian citizen can receive no more than ten pension points per year.
